# Selected text
> Check one passage instead of the whole page, without leaving the article
When you only doubt one sentence, you do not have to scan the whole article. Select the passage and check just that.
## Three ways to start
All three do the same thing. Use whichever is closest to hand.

The floating button can be turned off in **Settings → Floating Button** if it gets in the way. The shortcut and the right-click menu keep working either way.
## It is a page scan with a narrower range
Selecting text is not a different kind of check. The passage goes through the same pipeline as a full page scan: it is split into individual claims, and each claim is verified on its own.
So selecting a paragraph with three factual statements gives you three verdicts, not one blended judgment on the paragraph.
If the passage contains nothing checkable — an opinion, a question, a heading — you get a message saying so rather than a verdict on text that cannot have one.
## Results accumulate
Selections merge into the same session as the page they came from. Scan a page and then select part of it, or select first and scan afterwards. Either way results add up instead of replacing each other.

## On the page
Claims found from a selection are highlighted in the article just like scanned ones. Hover a highlight for the verdict, confidence score, and sources without opening the side panel. **Open in panel** jumps to the full card.
